spiral. there's a way around it. a new argument emerged about the polling that says that mitt romney is losing the race and losing badly in the new polls, yes, but the new argument on the right is that the polls are all wrong. mathematically. even the fox news poll. they are all unfairly skewed to make it look like obama is winning when, in fact, that's not the case. the new argument on the right is that if you reconfigure all of the mainstream polls to unskew if i them to make them be less liberal, they don't look like this anymore with 20 straight polls for obama. instead they look like this. hey, yeah, that's way better. mitt romney is actually winning all of the recent polls that you thought president obama was winning. the guy who did this it neat trick, the unskewing of the polling so mitt romney wins in every one instead of losing in every one, that guy explained his methodology to the folks at buzz feed saying he created this new romney-always-wins polling site, quote, after reading a "washington post" poll that just didn't look right noting that the polling had sampled more

if that's even possible right now. the public broadly speaking expects mitt romney to win. low expectations i suppose. the history as your comments suggest is that debates don't tend to change the trajectory of a presidential race very much. there has been a few cases where they have but just a few you are looking at this stage if you are a romney voter or fan for something that would change the apparent course of the election which you look at the thing nationally and it appears to be a pretty tight race. if you look at it in the key states. president obama appears to be ahead nearly everywhere. and by a significant margins in some places such as ohio where it's several points. now, you can't say that it's over. it certainly is not straight line projections are very dangerous in politics. things can change. always on the lookout for something to change it debate might much although it hasn't happened very often. >> bill: i think it's going to happen this year one way or the other. this is the stat that i will point to the rat muffin poll has the president up by three which is

happening in this race. a lost roar dad's devoted say mitt romney as much as we love him is no ronald reagan so do not expect lightning to strike twice. ing pray that it does, in fact, strike twice. one of the points made, people love ronald reagan. right now they are not in love with mitt romney who needs to shore up his own support. things can change. with my father's campaign, it did not chart charging until the final weekend when we went from behind to searching ahead, going to tuesday's election which caused jimmy carter to call at 5:00 in the afternoon and give up to my father. ronald reagan, by the way, my father was in the shower not planning on winning the election while showering but that is how he found out that, in fact, he won the election. it can change. they can change overnight. >>neil: the debate changed, the sunday before, not the immediate sunday, but the sunday before that, the american people willing to fire an incumbent they had to make sure the other guy was up to the task. they saw in the debate maybe he was, the same pressure on mitt romney or will be on mitt romney.

romney of course is totally the upscale candidate. he won the college graduates of almost every state including the southern state and lost non-college in most state and there was a classified in the race. so, there isn't an overwhelming balance but what is is an ideological preponderant, something like 80% of the republican primary voters and the conservatives. spaghetti can imagine threading a needle different like mike huckabee who has greater credibility with upscale republicans or vice versa. i think that you could see someone. >> romney didn't have to do the things he did on immigration in particular to win. with rick santorum he made choices that made life a lot easier in the spring and more complicated in the fall. >> we are talking about what the republicans should do but they become much more assertive in this issue which is a big change on immigration for example a few years ago rahm emanuel himself when he was winning the democratic majority counsel, conservative democrats, stay away from this issue because when you bring it up and rally conservatives hurt you with swing v
